Creating a new world

Hello! My name is Robert Edwards; I hail from the Netherlands. I am the creator of the Ephalon series, and I'd like to share with you the origins of Ephalon.

The seed from which Ephalon sprouted first came into existence as an idea in the latter half of 2002. Back then, I enjoyed playing with a program called 'The Elder Scrolls: construction set'. This software was a complimentary add-on to the 1st/3rd person Role Playing Game (RPG), 'The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind'

During my months of experimenting and building within this design program, I learned of a concept called a complete conversion mod. The idea is, you take a finished came and modify it so much that you effectively create an entirely new experience.

With this new goal in mind, I set out to build my very own 3D fantasy world. I created a fresh new continent to explore and started populating it with cities and interesting locales; however, as the hours and days ticked by, I realised this wasn't achievable by one man, at least not within a relevant timeframe. So, I dropped the project and continued my life as usual.

In the years following, I learned about the need for setting realistic, achievable goals. Going by this new mindset, I went back to my original project and extracted the components I could use for future endeavours. Certain story elements I'd devised during the mod creation stage ultimately became fundamental ingredients of what is now known as Ephalon.

The remainder of Ephalon and its ideas thereafter were continually built upon over the years. Every time I had an influx of inspiration, I created more to the story. It wasn't until 2017 that my desire to write and create overwhelmed me and forced me to hunker down and start the journey in earnest. I haven't looked back since.
