The domineering Dragons

The Dragon Queen-Empress

Celestus Arramore, the holy white dragon, the one who was officially appointed and recognised as the Dragon Queen-Empress. That is who I am. I came to power near the end of the second Era, because the elder dragons of the time were impressed by my tenacity to refuse to give up on life, though I suspect the rarity of my subspecies was the actual reasoning. I do believe I am the only recorded instance of a holy dragon to have ever existed. Furthermore, the fact that I possess four wings and a tri-horn are no less unique among my peers.

Some even went as far as calling me the dragon of legend spoken of in the book of Fate, the Celestial Dragon. That's where I got my namesake from, though I assure you, I am not the Celestial Dragon, as much as I'd love to boast about that fact. I came to power in a time of need; there was discourse among dragonkind which had led to many unnecessary deaths. The elders feared that our species would become extinct if things continued as they were. I cared little for their problems, to be honest, we dragons deserve our fates. After all, the elders dared not intervene, even though they easily could have stopped many a tragedy from occurring. I can assure you; they came to fear me.

Within our language of draconic, dragon means 'Creator and destroyer'. Sadly, this has led many of my kin into believing themselves to be Gods, oh how wrong they are.

It is common knowledge that since the end of the War of Dominance, the dragon population has been at a steady decline. Very few of us bother to procreate anymore. When stating this, I do not include the lesser forms of dragons or the hybrids in this statistic. I can think of only one reason why my fellow dragons would allow such a thing to transpire, our shared arrogance to be the most powerful.

You see whenever a dragon mates with another, there is an inherent chance we can create an entirely new subspecies, which very well might be more potent than ourselves. I do not doubt that dragons are the most powerful living creatures on Ephalon; however, I would deem it our duty to ensure that our offspring become stronger than ourselves. It is the only way to ensure that we remain the mightiest of them all.

It was for this very reason that I had my offspring, Dragorax and Selene, though sadly they did not turn out as I hoped, at least as far as species was concerned.

Diversity

Diversity

Dragons much like any other species that inhabit Ephalon are incredibly diverse. Some of us lack wings or even appendages of any kind, whilst others have wings where we would typically have arms.

A classical, and perhaps typical dragon, has two arms, two legs, a tail, two wings and a long neck with atop it a head adorned by an array of horns. Interestingly, I myself do not adhere to this formula, though I  still am considered the genuine article.

Then there are the draconians, a humanoid bipedal dragon, or as I commonly refer to them a lesser dragon. Some might mistake them for a hybrid, but I can assure you they are not. They were created as servants for the true dragons, though some of my kin were fine with having humans serve them. I do not need servants, only followers. Don't let Corphelax hear I said that, it would go straight to his head.

Lastly, some dragons have a specific elemental affinity. Almost all of us share in the ability to breathe fire; however, there are those who are more in tune with the governing elements. The ninth aspect of Void is a power we as dragons are unable to harness, and I believe this is for the better as I would rather see the end of that necrotic force.

I myself could be considered one who is highly in tune with the elements such as aspects of life and death are distinct powers that I possess, though I... no nevermind, I said nothing.

My offspring Dragorax and Selene, both are black dragons. In my absence, under the watchful eye of Corphelax, they somehow learned the ability to take on a humanoid hybrid form. I refuse to lower myself to anyone's size; I am the Dragon Queen-Empress! However, I never enforced my way of thinking on them, though a certain level of decorum and etiquette are a must of course. Their father Washu was a prismatic dragon who'd come here from the continent of Arack. I am reluctant to speak of most details concerning what happened during his time here but sufficed to say, one day he just left me alone with my offspring.

I'm am eternally grateful that Corphelax has always been around and helped tremendously throughout their upbringing, the man is both wise and kind, even though he is but a mere hybrid.

I am proud of my son and daughter; I love them very much. I expect great things from them in the future, in fact, I know they will have their parts to play.
