Ephalon - Triumvirate
Chapter 1 - Desperation
The unique hybrids
Evolution
The creation of the hybrids are and forever will be a mystery to me. It always comes down to a straightforward question, how could a Cenebrian mate with a Dragon? Or heaven forbid the other way around, it just wouldn't FIT! It boggles my mind, yet here we are today, with hybrids that go beyond imagining. As outlandish as it sounds, I find the intermixing of Ancient and Cenebrian blood the least strange out of all combinations.
It begs the question, how is nature able to do things like this? It clearly goes against the principles under which the animals of our world have evolved, yet for some reason, we progenitors are able to cross-breed. I wonder, did the Gods of creation intend for this to be possible? Or is there something more going on.
As I've been led to believe, during the second Era, after the War of Dominance had well and truly ended, the youth of that time were allowed to play with each other, which eventually led to the birth of the hybrids. Ah, perhaps that was it, it was their size that allowed for the mixing. Now that I think about it, that does seem more plausible. I believe that's the stance I shall adopt on this matter if only to keep my mind from imploding from the mere thought.

Come to think of it; my daughter has been cosying up a little too much with her Ancient friends. I might need to intervene one of these days.
Persecution
I wasn't born yet when the hybrids were first incepted. From the very beginning, they started out their lives as outcasts. I believe the Cenebrians even went as far as killing their own outright if they had suspicions of them being conceived. It led to a lot of uproar among the populace, sympathisers and opposers where quite adamant about their stances. Eventually, a community of hybrids broke off from the main settlements to created little safe-havens.
Though I find the act of copulating with another species abhorrent I would not go as far as to kill them for the act of birthing a hybrid. I myself grew up alone, and without a family, so I know how that feels as it was not a pleasant time.
It wasn't until humanity sprang forth from this hybridisation that this persecution finally tempered down. An interesting consequence of all this was that a great divide befell the Cenebrians of Caldrigo, which eventually led into the nobles suppressing those less fortunate. I can't be sure, but I believe that particular issue is still ongoing even to this day.
The light of Shinzi
Located to the north of Mount Arramore is the Karnor region, a lush forested landscape through which the river Arramore flows. Amid this beautiful region is a small settlement known as the village of Shinzi. This town is one of the most well-known safe-havens for hybrids; however, that very fact has attracted many bandits to roam the surrounding forest routes in the hopes of intercepting those less fortunate.
Fools, there is nothing to steal from those who have nothing! As much as I despise that kind of behaviour, there is little I can do about it. I have more important duties to attend to than dealing with the local upstarts. Perhaps I should pay that small village a quick visit someday, assuredly that would dissuade any future bandit attacks.
Navaridians
Situated in the middle of the Erafar continent is the Areanas sea, a beautiful massive inland body of water. To its north is the Areanas waterway which leads into the greater ocean beyond. Thanks to this wonder, the Erafar continent has accrued a diverse range of species. Most notably those referred to as the Navaridians. These are particular types of hybrids native to the Areanas sea. Ones that aren't explicitly associated with the three progenitor races.

To be honest, I don't even want to think about how these creatures came into existence. Although I have heard that merely being a hybrid that lives their life close to the sea is enough to be considered a Navaridian. I don't have enough time to delve into the finer details of all this; perhaps I could have my daughter Selene perform a little research for me.
